How to crochet a square mat for coffee mugs..?
It is not necessary to have yarn for crocheting ..you can use similar things also.. See around all in your house.. Widen your mind..and think for a similar thing..well i have used these strands (we call it dori) similar to yarn threads..and because this dori is a little more thick than the normal yarn thread..therefore we need to have a bigger crochet hook..You can use crochet hook of any size you are comfortable with. And ofcourse! we need a pair of scissors

Ok! Start with a slip knot..and chain four..slip stitch into the first stitch..
Chain one ..
Then two half double crochets into the centre hole..chain one..two half double crochets again.. Chain one again..repeat two more times..then slip stitch into the first stitch..we have completed first round!
Chain two
Make two half double crochets into the first chain space..chain one and make two half double crochet into the same chain space..chain two and work the same into all the remaining three chain spaces..
Then slip stitch into the first chain stitch.
Chain two again and repeat the process until you reach the required size of the mat..then slip stitch into the first stitch..chain one..sew the remaining strand inside the mat..
And its done.. You can make it with or without using yarn thread..it is very simple and easy..
